Phu Nguyen

I attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School while dual-enrolled at Iowa Western Community College through the Early College Academy. Being given the opportunity to attend a community college, I was able to grow into a better and more prepared college student. In my spare time, I like to partake in all sorts of activities that keep me active, socialize with different people and groups, and try new things. I was attracted to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln due to its vast opportunities to develop not only academically, but also mentally, socially, and physically. I plan on majoring in Mechanical Engineering, driven by my passion for math, science, and problem-solving. I am extremely grateful for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity the Kiewit Scholars program has given me, and I plan on utilizing it to the fullest through internships and networking events.
