A Crucial Conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. When conversations turn crucial, people tend to follow one of two ineffective paths: they either speak directly and abrasively to get the results they want but harm relationships, or they remain silent with the hope of preserving relationships only to sacrifice results. The material taught in this workshop, "Crucial Conversations® for Mastering Dialogue" gives people the skills to step into disagreement—rather than over or around it—and turn disagreement into dialogue for improved relationships and results.
Led by Durham School Director, Dr. Lily Wang (a certified trainer of Crucial Conversations® for Mastering Dialogue), this workshop teaches powerful skill sets grounded in decades of social science research. Join this year's cohort by attending the in-person retreat on Monday May 22, 2023, from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (detailed schedule shown below).
This workshop is sponsored by the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction (valued at over $230/seat through other offerings). While those in the Durham School receive priority registration, all faculty/postdocs/staff/graduate students in the College of Engineering are invited to register for remaining available spots on a first-come first-serve basis. Seats are limited! Please submit your RSVP through the form below as soon as possible, preferably before Monday, May 8, 2023.
