Over the summer I worked as afield engineer intern for the Plains District of Hensel Phelps. My job site was a data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This internship gave me the experience of being on the General Contractor side of construction. Being able to work with the electricians and commissioning agents showed me what to look for and how much work goes into energizing one piece of equipment.
Although my focus was commissioning, I was also involved with safety, and scheduling.The most beneficial experience I got from work this summer, was working with the higher ups of trades and dealing directly with owner’s representatives.While I was not at work, I had plenty of opportunities to go to company sponsored events, explore Colorado, and enjoy the night life with the other interns.The schooling I have received gave me a solid foundation that I was able to build upon this summer and will continue to build further in my career.
