This summer, in addition to the past three years, I worked as an intern at Leo A Daly in Omaha. When I started at Leo A Daly,I was able to work and learn across disciplines, aiding the decision to take the electrical and lighting path of emphasis in my Masters degree curriculum. After settling on an emphasis, I have been able to take more responsibility in managing the lighting design of multiple projects including Penterman Readiness Center, Southeast Community CollegeEnergy Building, and Lackland Air Force Base Renovation.I also aid in the power design of said projects as well as an elevator addition for a local community center that provided a new learning opportunity to apply what I knew and research unknowns to be able to design to project scope.
Over the course of working at LAD I have been able to apply concepts from the classroom to real projects as well as using the modeling software 3ds Max, learned in lighting design, to provide a rendering of my lighting design to the client to evaluate how color changing fixtures would apply in their space. Leo A Daly is a great place for learning and exposure to projects of all markets. Their culture is that of a true team that loves to solve problems and create award-winning designs together.
