Blurred water droplets roll off of a section of wire used to transmit electricity. Dennis Alexander's lab is pursuing a project that will modify power line wires so that they repel precipitation. The work shows promise in reducing ice formation on power lines.
July 27, 2018 - Shark skin offers a near-perfect design for gliding effortlessly through water. A Nebraska Engineering research team led by Dennis Alexander is working to give metal the same unique properties, allowing it to be used for defense and industrial purposes.  Full Story

Aurubis, a leading manufacturer of non-ferrous metals, used a walkway between two buildings in Pirdop, Bulgaria, to test the conductive concrete invented by Nebraska Engineering professors Chris Tuan and Lim Nguyen with an iron-rich sand that is a by-product of their copper production.

A team of electrical and computer engineering senior design capstone students designed an insole to monitor foot temperature in diabetes patients. The box that houses the control system and PCB sits atop the foot and is slightly longer than a AAA battery.
