Before You Apply

  1. AI Policy

    We ask you to refrain from all AI use as you craft your responses. We want to hear your authentic thoughts and voice! The content matters to us more than perfect polish. Do your best to have clear writing and use spell check, knowing our goal is to get to know you, not "grade" your writing ability.

  2. Professional Interests

    We ask all students who apply have a genuine interest in the building and construction industry, as they will benefit the most from the speakers and programming over the four years. Additionally, know the guaranteed Kiewit internship offer will be in one of Kiewit's markets, so ensure your professional interests align.   3. Cohort Programs

    The College of Engineering has different signature cohort programs, including Kiewit Scholars and the Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy. We welcome students to apply for all programs for which they meet the requirements, however, we ask you familiarize yourself with the differences in order to submit your best work to each.

Kiewit Scholars Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Kiewit Scholar!

Eligible students are first-year incoming freshmen and must be US citizens or permanent US residents. Eligible students must major in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or mechanical engineering. Applicants must have an interest in the building and construction industry.

In addition to completing this application, your full university admissions file will be used in a holistic review process. This is a competitive program with limited spots. Students are selected through a rigorous application and interview process and evaluated relative to other applicants in the pool.

You cannot save your progress in the form, so we encourage you to complete your essay responses in a separate document and paste them into the form.
