UNL MEM Program Testimonial

I graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. I had considered for a number of years pursuing a master’s degree but, due to life circumstances, never felt that I would have the time to dedicate to it. I was concerned that, under a typical master’s program, it would take up to five years to obtain by taking one class each semester. When I learned about UNL’s accelerated program and being able to complete the program in half the time, I decided to give it a try.

I was very pleased with how manageable the classes were. The online format made it easy to participate and contribute. It also allowed me to watch the class lectures and complete the homework assignments on my schedule. Below are just a few of the personal benefits from the program:

  • Leadership

I especially enjoyed the classes that focused on leadership. I have been a senior manager of my organization for over 10 years but the classes that I took on leadership helped to hone those skills and provide some great examples to follow.
  • Financial Knowledge

During the program, I took several finance related courses. These courses greatly improved my knowledge of business finances and expanded my abilities to evaluate and understand what is happening with the organization on a financial level.
  • 8 Week Format

I enjoyed the variety that comes from the 8-week format. A lot is squeezed into this timeframe but that means that you get to move on to a new subject in a relatively short amount of time. I highly recommend the accelerated format especially for those with busy lifestyles.
