I have been working with BranchPattern’s Omaha office since spring of 2019. This summer I continued working as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. Because of my experience with the company, I was able to take a much larger role and begin learning how become an independent engineer. Because of this, I was responsible for taking a mechanical and plumbing design from beginning to end on multiple small projects including the Gretna Good Life Bar, and the Woodside Village Apartments in Lincoln, Nebraska. In addition to the small jobs, I was also able to work on jobs that were much larger, including Sage Memorial Hospital and the Heartland Family Services - Laikin building. Since I was performing the same role as other young engineers, I was responsible for other interns. This gave me my first real experience leading a small project team. BranchPattern is unique because they offer LEED consulting and commissioning in addition to design services. There were multiple times this summer where I was able to travel and help perform various tests in the field.
