Nitric oxide is a key signaling molecule within the body that is associated with many inflammatory diseases, including cancer. Unfortunately, we know very little about nitric oxide’s function in the body since it degrades very quickly. The Iverson lab has two research fronts:

1) To develop and build platforms that will allow for in vitro and in vivo carbon nanotube sensor use

2) utilize single walled carbon nanotube sensors to determine nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide's role in both biological phenomena.
