Renato Amorim Torres joined the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) as an assistant professor in August 2026. Before joining UNL he was a Senior Researcher in Electric Machines and Drive Systems at General Motors Research and Development. Renato Amorim Torres received the B.Sc. degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 2016, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA, in 2020 and 2022, respectively, all in electrical engineering. During his M.S. and Ph.D. studies, he was a Research Assistant with the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC).
