As an undergraduate student majoring in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I built an engineering background that helped me start my career. Being involved in activities outside of class also played a big role in learning how to communicate and work in teams. One of my favorite classes was senior design. I worked with a local medical manufacturing company to optimize one of their production processes. Because I enjoyed the experience, it led me to seek a career in the medical manufacturing industry. I now work for Becton Dickinson at their Pharmaceutical Systems plant in Columbus, Nebraska. I manage our engineering and technical team to ensure manufacturing processes run efficiently and produce high quality products. My team also works on projects to improve our processes and customer experience. After some years, I wanted to transition into operations. I chose the online Master of Engineering Management degree at Nebraska to learn more about business and operations within a technical field. I was drawn to the flexibility to customize my learning experience. I wanted to become a better technical leader and take business courses I didn't take as an undergraduate. Through this program, I achieved both goals.
