One of the main reasons I chose an MEM instead of an MBA is because I wanted to continue building on my engineering background while also developing the leadership and management skills needed to grow professionally. I am very happy with my choice. Throughout this program, I have learned about project management, decision and risk analysis, legal considerations, operations, and other areas that can be applied across many different industries and roles. The MEM at UNL helped me grow beyond a purely technical engineering role, without completely leaving behind the engineering work and mindset. It gave me exposure to several critical knowledge areas which helped me discover new interests and prepared me for leadership or management opportunities.
