Material characterization techniques: Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Nanoindentation, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), focused ion beam (FIB), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD).

Material sintering technique: spark plasma sintering (SPS) of alumina ceramic, silicon carbide, and SiC/B4C composites.
