Ben McGinnis is a graduate student in Civil Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln pursuing an M.S. with a structural emphasis. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis from UNL in May 2026 and has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. His academic and professional interests include structural design and analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design, foundation engineering, telecommuncations engineering, and infrastructure project execution.
Ben has completed three consecutive summer internships with Kimley-Horn, where he supported telecommunications projects through construction drawing development, engineering documentation, permitting, and utility coordination. He also served as a research intern at the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility, supporting roadside safety research through field-data analysis, video analysis, technical drafting, and barrier-system reporting. Additionally, he has experience mentoring undergraduate engineering students in statics and fundamental engineering mechanics concepts.
