Rodney Mrkvicka is the Vice President, Engineering at Smith & Loveless Inc, a global leader in custom designed systems and products for the water, water reuse, wastewater and mining industries. His career spans over 40 years in the product manufacturing and professional consulting engineering markets serving Municipal, Industrial, Federal and International clients. His experience includes business development, strategic planning, project management, project design, product research and development, construction management, Intellectual Property protection and department management associated with the water, wastewater, water reuse, water infrastructure and mining projects.
Rodney received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and his master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. He serves as a licensed professional engineer in the state of Kansas, and is the Responsible Party for his company’s four General Contractor licenses. He currently manages more than 30 engineering staff focused on developing, designing, supplying, and installing systems and equipment for various infrastructure projects globally. He holds more than a dozen patents, both domestically and internationally.
Rodney is also an active member in several national and state associations, including the Water Environment Federation, WateReuse, American Society of Civil Engineers and the Hydraulic Institute. He has authored several papers that were published and presented at numerous conferences. His contributions with the Hydraulic Institute include serving as chairman of the Systems Section for more than 10 years, chairing several other committees that have developed technical publications and national standards, and providing consultation on pump design and operation to the U.S. Department of Energy. For his contributions, the Hydraulic Institute honored him as the Member of the Year in 2022.
