NCEES Engineering Education Award

NCEES logoThe Durham School has received a 2024 Engineering Education Award, at $10,000 from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). It is the seventh time in the past nine years that the Interdisciplinary Team Design Class in the architectural engineering program has been recognized with this prestigious award. This award recognizes programs that engage their students with industry professionals and support the NCEES mission to advance professional licensure.

  • Dr. Jun Ho received the Holling Family Distinguished Senior Faculty Teaching Award.
  • Dr. Clarence Waters received the UNO Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award.
  • Mallory Asay received a Staff Award for Outstanding Performance.

DOE Building Technologies Office’s Jump into STEM Competition

The Durham School student team, advised by Moe Alarmed, won one of the prizes at the 2024 Jump Into STEM Competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Building Technologies Office.Congratulations to Dr. Moe Alahmad and the student team (Izzi Bryant, Maddax Frye, Ema Horner, and Sophie Kudron) for winning one of the prizes in the 2024 Jump Into STEM Competition, sponsored by the US Department of Energy Building Technologies Office. The focus of their project was “Detecting, Contracting, Sealing (DCS) – the Community Envelope”. Students on the winning teams receive 10-week paid internships at PNNL or NREL. Many thanks to Associate Professor of Practice Brandon Kreiling and Assistant Professor Dr. Iason Konstantzos for their mentorship of the student teams.
