Who/What has inspired you during your college career?
During my college career, I have mostly been inspired by my great uncle, Mike Ament, who I have been in constant contact with during all four years of my college career. He studied Electrical Engineering at UNL in the 1980s before working with Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids for about 30 years. For a couple years after accepting retirement with Collins, he worked with FDH. He has held various engineering management roles. Now he is working with Collins again as a remote, contract engineer. Growing up, I always enjoyed having cool conversations with Mike, and after graduating high school, we began emailing back and forth regularly. We have discussed anything from everyday happenings to faith, science, politics, work, etc. He has inspired me to not only learn as much as I can and work hard, but also to try to live in a virtuous way. I am also very fortunate to always have support from my parents, sister, other family members, friends, and my fiancé, Shannon.
