After a 2020 derecho hit east-central Iowa, Nebraska's Christine Wittich, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, conducted "structural reconnaissance" on a unique case study to learn why four of an interconnected group of five grain bins were destroyed and one was left totally intact.
