Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, a Ph.D. candidate and graduate research assistant in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, received first place in the Gallery of Rheology contest at the Society of Rheology’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Boston in October.

Hosseini works in the research group led by Jae Sung Park, Richard L. McNeel Associate Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Hosseini earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology in Iran, and his research focuses on fluid dynamics, rheology, complex fluids, and electrokinetics, including work on colloidal gels, crystal-glass transition, and electrorheological fluids.

Sponsored by the Society of Rheology, the Gallery of Rheology contest highlights the visually striking aspects of research in the rheology community. The contest seeks videos and posters featuring visually engaging aspects of rheology, which is the study of how matter, especially liquids and soft solids, flows and deforms under an applied force.
