The Shield Advanced Materials and Processing Laboratory (SAMPL) is a leading research facility that is dedicated to advancing the field of materials engineering. As a part of the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, SAMPL leverages cutting-edge technology and a highly skilled team of professionals to explore new frontiers in materials science.

Our facilities, located at the Engineering Research Center (ERC) and Nebraska Hall in Lincoln, Nebraska, are designed to meet the most demanding research requirements. With a focus on metallurgy and metallography, SAMPL is committed to characterizing and analyzing material microstructure and behavior to provide enhanced material properties for a wide range of applications, including the Army, the Medical domain, the Navy, and various industries.
