Lassek, Rich among Building Design + Construction's 19th annual 40 Under 40 class


Nov. 12, 2024 - Nick Lassek and Brandon Rich, both master of architectural engineering alumni from the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction, were among the eight engineers being selected by the editors of Building Design + Construction to the 40 Under 40 class for 2024. Honorees were chosen for their career achievements and passion for the AEC profession.

Lassek, now 29 and an associate, high-performance design engineer with LEO A DALY in Omaha, is recognized by BD+C as a Sustainable Disruptor. Lassek is one of his firm's youngest members promoted to associate and helped increase the firm's gross square footage modeled by nearly 800 percent in three years. He is an active member of ASHRAE, serves on the Univeristy of Nebraska Medical Center Sustainability Task Force, the board of Project StaSIO (Standard Simulations Inputs and Outputs) and volunteers with Green Omaha Coalition's Earth Day and Zero Waste programs and with Keep Omaha Beautiful.

Rich, 39 and principal at Alvine Engineering/IP Design Group, is recognized as an Active Volunteer. His volunteering includes work wiht Miss America Scholarship, Junior League of Omaha, Habitat for Humanity, United Way of the Midlands, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Wellcom Trek up the Tower. Rich is a guest lecturer in the Durham School's AE program and is a member of the Architectural Engineering Institute, Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Urban Land Institute, Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Illuminating Engineering Society.
