MEP Scholars

The MEP is a cohort-based program designed to engage and enhance the experiences of talented scholars with shared experiences who are committed to developing their strengths in leadership and community development. MEP creates a community of academic excellence among our students by fostering connections with other students, faculty, and staff in the College of Engineering and beyond.

WIE Scholars

The WIE Scholars Program is designed to engage and enhance the experiences of talented scholars who demonstrate experience with, or commitment to, the recruitment and advancement of men and women in engineering. The program provides professional development, an encouraging academic environment, and a supportive community of peers, staff, and faculty.

Application Information

The application for WIE and MEP is open for students graduating from high school within a year of the deadline. Transfer students may also apply and follow the same dates. This application is good for students admitted to the College of Engineering for both the City Campus (Lincoln) or Scott Campus (Omaha). These are scholarship, cohort-based groups with requirements to maintain your active status and financial support.

Final Deadline

The application closes March 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM. You will be notified of your application decision by April 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't decided between Lincoln and Omaha yet. Should I apply for the community Scholars Programs on both campuses?

Yes! If you are considering both campuses, you may select "Both" on your application in response to the question, "Which campus are you applying to?".

Can I apply to both Enrichment Scholars Programs (MEP/WIE)? I want to be considered for both.

Yes, if selected for the program, you can indicate which one you prefer. Most activities and events will treat both groups as one large group of students.

I want to join a learning community, sorority/fraternity or another similar program on campus. Would these conflict with the Enrichment Scholars Programs?

These programs do not directly conflict. We simply encourage students to consider the time commitments required for the things they wish to do on campus. Additionally, there is no residency requirement for these scholars programs. If you plan well, you will be able to manage your time successfully.

Programs that would conflict with participation include:

  • Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy (City-Lincoln & Scott-Omaha Campus)
  • Kiewit Scholars Program (City-Lincoln Campus)
  • Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management (City-Lincoln Campus)
When will I hear back if I get accepted into the Engineering Community Scholars program?

You will hear back by April 1st. All applicants accepted to a community  Scholars Program (MEP/WIE) will have until May 1 to formally accept or decline their place in the program. Should you decide early, we welcome your commitment!
