    Modeling Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells


A novel 3D bioreactor created by the Yuguo Lei Laboratory is modeled by the Viljoen Lab. The stem cells are enclosed in tubes which are placed in the bioreactor along with medium to proliferate and differentiate. The lab focuses on modeling stem cell phenomena and reaction conditions in the bioreactor. This includes:

and anything else desired to be examined. The videos here examines the T-cells undergoing aggregation, and the probability to be transducted by viruses. The cells are aggregating, and the transparent surfaces represent the different probabilities that a virus is at a specific location.

This video shows COMSOL simulation of the flow of water in the bioreactor when an airflow is inserted to the bottom of the reactor. The arrows indicate the flow path of the medium.
