Recent progress in laser technology has produced a remarkable set of contributions to society with a broad range of applications. We are organizing the 4th International Workshop on Frontiers in Lasers and Applications (FLA-4) during July 7 –11, 2023 in Ishigaki, Okinawa, Japan, which provides a forum to discuss a broad range of subjects in the state-of-the-art and future prospects of lasers and laser applications. More importantly, FLA-4 aims at furthering international exchange between distinguished scientists from across the globe and to promote new scientific networks. The Workshop assembles 30 scientists worldwide to discuss a broad range of subjects in laser technology and its applications.

Key features of the Workshop are that 1) No proceedings are produced and the discussions along with what is presented remain in the memory of the participants. However, the participants are free to publish their work but not under auspices of the FLA. 2) all participants are invited to present material in their research area of interest or to present new ideas that would produce new disciplines. In addition to regular sessions consisting of keynote presentations by leading researchers and entrepreneurs, there are also a number of social events for participants to meet in person and discuss future trends in laser science and applications. A gathering that has been in limited supply in the past few years as result of the pandemic.
