Nirupam Aich, Ph.D.
Title: Richard L. McNeel Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental EngineeringFocusing on protecting public health through physical-chemical treatment of drinking water and wastewater, Dr. Aich’s research focuses on the mitigation of emerging water pollution, such as PFAS or “forever chemicals” using advanced nanomaterials. He received a National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2022.
Shannon Bartelt-Hunt
Shannon Bartelt-Hunt, Ph.D., P.E.
Title: Donald R. Voelte, Jr. and Nancy A. Keegan Chair of EngineeringDr. Bartelt-Hunt’s research connects water quality, agriculture and health, focusing on such areas as soil and water contamination, citizen science and water reuse. She and a team of researchers were awarded the Grand Prize for University Research by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists. She has received national awards for teaching.

Title: Ray Fauss Professor of Civil and Environmental EngineeringDr. Dvorak’s research interests include environmental engineering, physical-chemical treatment processes, life cycle assessment and pollution prevention and environmental sustainability for industry. He has served on the boards of directors for the State of Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects and the American Water Works Association.

Nathan Huynh, Ph.D.
Title: Keith W. Klaasmeyer Chair in EngineeringAs director of the Nebraska Transportation Center, Dr. Huynh oversees the operations, infrastructure, research, and financials of the Center. His primary research areas are freight logistics, intermodal freight terminal design and operations, and smart cities. His secondary research areas are traffic safety, climate and sustainability, and transportation equity.
Seunghee Kim
Seunghee Kim, Ph.D.
Title: Charles J. Vranek Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental EngineeringThe primary research area of Dr. Kim focuses on Energy-Geotechnics, which includes operations such as geologic carbon storage and utilization, energy storage, nuclear waste sequestration, and natural hydrogen production and storage. It also includes a fundamental study on fluid transport in deformable porous media and multi-physically coupled phenomena in subsurface formations.
Xu Li
Xu Li, Ph.D.
Title: Dale Jacobson & Debra Leigh Professor of Environmental EngineeringDr. Li’s teaching and research efforts aim to improve environmental sustainability and public health. His research is focused on microbes and microbial communities relevant to contaminant biotransformation, environmental surveillance, circular bioeconomy, and greenhouse gas mitigation.
Daniel Linzell
Daniel Linzell, Ph.D.
Title: Leslie D. Martin Professor of Civil and Environmental EngineeringPrimary research focus areas for Dr. Linzell include infrastructure health monitoring, structural robustness, and bridge engineering using modeling and laboratory and field testing. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute.
