Civil Engineering chair appointed to state board

Dan Linzell, UNL’s chair of civil engineering, has been appointed to the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects by Gov. Pete Ricketts.

Linzell will serve a five-year term on the board, which oversees the laws and rules which govern the practice of engineering and architecture in the State of Nebraska.

“The board is charged with making sure the licensure rules and regulations in Nebraska are adequate and are keeping up with what the industry of engineering is doing as it moves forward,” Linzell said. “It’s important that we make sure the engineers who practice in this state are licensed and have a competency level that ensures what they do is safe for the public and beneficial to the public.”

The board consists of eight members that include engineers and architects who represent government agencies, industry and education.
