The Nebraska Engineering concrete canoe team from Scott Campus was one of six university teams chosen as a wild-card entry in the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition on June 23-25 in San Diego, California.
It is the first time a Scott Campus concrete canoe team has qualified for the national competition. The 2018 national competition will feature 25 schools, including 19 that qualified through this spring's various student conferences. This is the first year that ASCE has used a wild-card system to fill out the rest of the field.
To be eligible for a wild-card, teams must have finished in the upper half of their student conference's concrete canoe competition and have submitted ASCE student chapter annual reports that scored in the top third among all chapters.
