CIAC Tradition of Excellence Scholarship

The mission of the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CIAC) is to provide a continuing liaison between the academic community and the practicing profession and to assist the Construction Engineering (CONE) and Construction Management (CM) programs, the DSAEC, the College of Engineering (CoE), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in providing the highest quality of construction education.

The CIAC's “Tradition of Excellence” scholarships provide tuition assistance to undergraduate students pursuing careers in the construction industry.  

Applications are accepted from December through February 1.

H. Roots Foundation Scholarship

The H. Roots Foundation Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the Construction Management program at the Durham School of Architectural Engineering & Construction at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on either campus. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need and to graduates of Omaha-area high schools. The scholarship may be renewed automatically for students who remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Applications accepted from December to February 1.

Scholarships for Both AE and Construction Students

DBIA Mid-America Region Scholarship (Spring 2026)

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Mid-America Region offers scholarships for students majoring in Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

To qualify, students must have a minimum 2.75 departmental GPA and attend at least one DBIA-MAR event such as a tour, seminar, or regional conference.

Upcoming qualifying opportunities include the DBIA Holiday Happy Hour and Tour of “The Row” on November 13, 2025, and a January 2026 Breakfast at the Scott Conference Center (date TBD).

Award amount: $500 – $1,500
Deadline: Friday, January 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. CST
