Nebraska Engineering researchers Rajib Saha and Niaz Bahar Chowdhury are studying how corn roots adapt to insufficient nitrogen, with an eye toward making genetic tweaks that might increase, or at least maintain, plant growth and yields without excessive application of fertilizer.
