The Intelligent Device-2–Applications (iDEA) laboratory is looking for excellent candidates for Ph.D. positions in the School of Computing. There are several ongoing projects in software/hardware co-design for machine learning, hardware security, CAD for emerging technologies, and adaptive computer architectures. The ideal candidate should have an MSc degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering and strong background on:
  • Computer Architecture;
  • FPGAs and Hardware Coding Skills (Such as VHDL/Verilog);
  • Analog/Mixed-Signal Circuit Design; and

Some experience in one of the following areas will be considered an advantage:
  • Hardware design for machine learning, and neuromorphic computing;
  • Energy-harvesting and intermittent computing systems;
  • Low-power and reliability-aware VLSI circuits;
  • Machine learning: theoretical analysis or application experience;
  • FPGA machine learning acceleration engineer; and/or
  • Implementation attacks: side-channel analysis and fault attacks.
