Balaji Sethu Raja, Ph.D., was recently appointed dean of mathematics and business at Citrus College in Glendora, California.

Sethu Raja, whose first day with the college was Jan. 2, 2024, has a broad background in full-time teaching, applied engineering and research, and leadership oversight. Founded in 1915, Citrus College is the oldest community college in Los Angeles County, California and the fifth oldest in the state.

Previously, he was at Madera Community College in Madera, California where he developed academic programs, transfer pathways and workforce development initiatives at the school. Sethu Raja earned a Ph.D. in agricultural and biological systems engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Madras (India) and a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati.
