Several engineers from Nebraska companies were guests of UNL’s NEAT Labs on Wednesday, June 7 as the College of Engineering, along with the Nebraska Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Heartland Robotics Cluster, hosted an open house for the Nebraska Engineering Additive Technology (NEAT) Laboratories.

Companies and organizations attending included representatives from:
  • Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing (Lincoln)
  • Blue Print Engines (Kearney)
  • Vishay Intertechnology (Columbus)
  • Hughes Brothers (Seward) and;
  • NUtech Ventures (Lincoln)
Following a presentation in Nebraska Hall 188, tours of the City Campus facility were offered courtesy of Joe Turner, Ph.D., Robert W. Brightfelt Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and Tanner Brandl, an undergraduate student working with the NEAT Labs to conduct research in additive manufacturing. Afternoon tours demonstrated the lab’s hybrid metal additive manufacturing capabilities and materials characterization instruments, and highlighted how industry partners can collaborate with engineering researchers and students to enhance additive manufacturing proficiencies.
