Previously at Alcatel Lucent, James Hansen was the North American CTO and Solutions Executive Leader responsible for new technology introduction and support. In addition, he helped customers develop their vision of future networks and operational support teams. Prior to that he led Alcatel- Lucent’s telecom and data outsourcing, resource augmentation, and large service offerings.
Hansen formerly served as senior vice president, Network Services, for Embarq and Sprint’s Local Telecommunications Division (now CenturyLink). He was responsible for all planning, design, engineering, provisioning, operations, technology evaluation and installation. He led a nationwide 15,000-person organization performing these duties. He held other senior management positions at Sprint, including vice president of Planning and assistant vice president of Engineering. He also led two re-engineering teams and has served as a director of National Engineering Standards, Regional Planning, Systems Development and Regional Engineering.
Prior to joining Sprint, Hansen held various engineering management positions with Northwestern Bell, AT&T and Proctor & Gamble. He is a registered Professional Engineer. He was selected as one of the top 5 Innovators in the telecom industry for his leadership in driving the first IP based core network in 2004. Corning selected him as the top industry network leader in 2006.
