Kim Cowman leads engineering design services for LEO A DALY, an international design firm founded in Omaha more than a century ago. She is the first to hold the position. She lectures regularly to support the Durham school’s Team Design projects and is a recognized expert in the precise mechanical design requirements of healthcare facilities.

With two decades of design experience, her project leadership has helped the firm win multiple design awards. Since early on, Cowman has remained engaged in conversations around sustainable design and the power of the built environment to enhance wellness and quality of life. Her ideas have been featured in Forbes and Engineering-News Record, and she has authored articles in Medical Construction & Design and Healthcare Design, among other publications. She is a frequent presenter at national and regional conferences and serves on local and national committees for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Cowman holds Professional Engineer licenses in eight U.S. states and the island of Guam. She won Outstanding Alumni of the Year in 2019. And she has been featured on 40 Under 40 lists for both Building Design & Construction and Consulting-Specifying Engineer. Her work contributed to notable Omaha projects such as the trailblazing Omaha VA Ambulatory Care Center.
