Fifteen Nebraska high schools competed in a national competition with emphasis on science and math for solving real-world problems.
On Feb. 17, the UNL College of Engineering hosted the 2011 Tests of Engineering Aptitude Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) competition, conducted by the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS).
The day-long competition at UNL was sponsored by the Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers (NeSPE) and focused this year on opportunities and solutions related to global energy issues.
Top 2011 finishers at UNL were grouped by grade level and school population size:
REGIONAL OVERALL STANDINGS:
9th/10th Grade Overall - Part 1 exam
1st Place - Tie: Elkhorn South High School TEAM A and TEAM B
2nd Place - Omaha North High Magnet - TEAM A
3rd Place - Elkhorn High School
Honorable Mention - Omaha North High Magnet - TEAM B
11th/12th Grade Overall - Part 1 exam
1st Place - Creighton Prep
2nd Place - Blair High School
3rd Place - Bellevue East High School
