Nebraska Engineering built upon its reputation at the North Central Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) - Region IV's annual conference in October, with more than 200 students and faculty participating from 13 universities in seven states.

In addition to an active career fair, the event's Student Management Competition fielded 31 teams in Commercial, Heavy Civil, Design Build, and Residential divisions. The experience puts students in real project management situations with plans and specifications from projects that have already been built or are currently under construction.

In an 18-hour period, teams scheduled, estimated, ran cost analyses, and resolved issues that arise during the building of a construction project. A panel of judges-including architects, engineers and contractors-reviewed and graded the team proposals, which emphasized students' knowledge and ability to work together in a realistic project management setting.
