Waters gains AEI Fellow status

Clarence Waters, associate professor and director of Nebraska Engineering's AE program, was named one of two Fellows in 2009 by the Architectural Engineering Institute, part of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

To be eligible for consideration to advance to the grade of Fellow, an AEI Member must be a legally licensed engineer or architect with at least 10 years of significant experience and leadership in architectural engineering.

Waters has a Ph.D. in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University; he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in architectural engineering from Kansas State University. Waters served on the faculty of Kansas State University in architectural engineering from 1986 to 2000, and was the head of the Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science at KSU for four years. Prior to his academic career, Waters worked as an electrical project engineer for Professional Engineering Consultants in Wichita, Kansas; he continues to focus on lighting and power distribution systems for buildings in his scholarly activities. He is currently or has been licensed in 21 states and has received two International Lighting Design Awards of Merit. Waters has served on the Board of Governors with the Architectural Engineering Institute, and with the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) he has chaired and serves on many technical committees.
