Eligibility Requirements

Pursuing Your Future

  • Students must be admitted to the University of Nebraska on the College of Engineering's City Campus programs (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) or Scott Campus programs (University of Nebraska at Omaha)
    • Application to admission decision usually requires two business days
  • Students must be a resident of Nebraska
  • Students must demonstrate financial need
    • Students with a SAI of 30,000 or below are encouraged to apply
    • Students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant are encouraged to apply
    • Students that are on Free & Reduced Lunch are encouraged to apply
  • Students that are U.S. citizens or qualified non-citizens must submit the FAFSA

  • Students must be traditional first-year incoming freshmen
  • Students must demonstrate interest and commitment to the advancement of women in engineering, computing, or construction

Enrollment Deposit

NOTE: As part of the university enrollment process, all newly admitted first-year and transfer students must pay or defer a $250 enrollment deposit to finalize admission and secure your space in the incoming class. If accepted into the Academy, student will then be reimbursed for the deposit.

    Application opens for the Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy

  3. December 8

    Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy Application Workshop | Tuesday, December 8 from 5:00-6:00 PM

  4. January 15

    Priority Application Deadline

    Applications submitted by 11:59 PM on Friday, January 15, 2027, will receive priority consideration for the interview process.

    Late applications are accepted if space is available through 8:00 AM CST on Tuesday, January 19, 2027.

    Applicants Invited to Interview | Mid-February

  7. March

    SCHOLARSHIP STATUS NOTIFICATIONS SENT OUT BY MARCH 22, 2027.

    Selection

    Students receive admission decisions from the Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy including details about their scholarship and financial aid award package.

If Selected To Interview

Students selected to interview will be notified via email by scholar program staff. We hope to have all students selected to interview to attend an in-person interview on either the Scott (Omaha) or City (Lincoln) campus. Scholar program staff will work with students who demonstrate financial need and may need additional support to get to campus to interview. If alternative interview options are needed or if a candidate needs accomodations, staff will work out those details with interviewing students on a case-by-case basis.
