Program Benefits

Beyond the spectacular financial support the program has to offer, we ask all students who apply have a genuine interest in supporting the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy, as they will benefit the most from the programming and community the program has to offer. We encourage all interested students attend our Application Informational Session on Tuesday, December 8th, from 5-6 PM on Zoom, to hear from our students and staff, and learn more about the program.
Cohort Programs

The College of Engineering has different signature cohort programs, including Peter Kiewit Engineering Academy, the Kiewit Scholars Program, and the Engineering Honors Academy. We welcome students to apply for all programs for which they meet the requirements, however, we ask you familiarize yourself with the differences in order to submit your best work to each.

Thank you for your interest in the Engineering Academy! Applications for Cohort 6 are available starting November 1, 2026, for students graduating from a Nebraska high school in May 2027. In addition to completing this application, your full university admission file will be used in the review process.

Please note that each essay question has a 150-word count maximum, and you cannot save your progress in the form. Therefore, we encourage you to complete your essay responses in a separate Word document and then upload them to this form. If you would like to submit more than one application, we will only review the most current one on file.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Acknowledgement Required

Students who are eligible to file the FAFSA (general eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship or eligible noncitizen) are required to do so. Students who are ineligible to file the FAFSA may submit the Federal Student Aid Estimator Form and attach a screenshot or PDF file to their application. Applicants are required to have a completed FAFSA or Federal Student Aid Estimator Form to be on file with UNL/UNO no later than 8:00 a.m. on February 1, 2027.
