Rajurkar awarded the 2018 M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal of ASME/SME

The M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal of ASME/SME was established in 1986 by ASME and SME to honor an exceptional individual who has had significant influence and
responsibility for improving the productivity and efficiency of the manufacturing operation.

The 2018 M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal of ASME/SME is being awarded to Dr. Rajurkar “for pioneering contributions to enhance the productivity of nontraditional machining processes used in automobile, aerospace and medical device manufacturing, including electrical discharge machining and electrochemical machining at macro, micro and nanoscales, through extensive research in process modeling and in sensing and control techniques.”

The formal presentation of the award will take place at the Honors Assembly, November 12, 2018 during the ASME Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition, November 9-15, 2018 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center/Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
