Fundamental and applied materials science is a longstanding strength of Research in the UNL College of Engineering. Activities range across scales from atomistic construction to bridges and buildings. Our faculty have developed novel processing schemes and large-scale deployment of functional materials. COE facilities include laser processing, 3D additive manufacturing, BioManufacturing, and analysis facilities for testing of habitable structures.
College of Engineering activities address the NAE Grand Challenge of Engineering the Tools of Scientific Discovery and Restore and Improve Urban Infrastructure.
