The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction welcomed two new faculty members to the team in the 2023-24 academic year. We are pleased to introduce Assistant Professor Yunping Liang and Assistant Professor of Practice Andre Messner.
Yunping Liang
Dr. Yunping Liang joined the Durham School in January 2024 as an Assistant Professor in the area of construction and infrastructure system engineering at UNL. His research interests lie in the intersections of civil engineering, operations research, and public policy. With a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Tongji University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Liang's work focuses on enhancing infrastructure investment by improving accountability and effectiveness, promoting social equity in project development, and maximizing investments in sustainable facilities. Before joining UNL, he was an Assistant Professor at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and an Analyst Intern at Ernst & Young China Ltd. in Shanghai, China.
Andre Messner
Andre Messner joined the Durham School in August 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the construction programs. He brings 21 years of experience in the construction industry, encompassing residential, government, and commercial sectors. He has managed nearly half a billion dollars' worth of construction projects.
Andre holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Fresno and an M.S. in Project Management from Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs. Since joining the Durham School in the Fall of 2023, he has taught CNST 411 - Project Administration, CNST 436 - Intent and Application of Building Codes, and CONE 206 - Engineering Economics.
We are excited to have Dr. Yunping Liang and Andre Messner on board and look forward to their contributions to our academic and research endeavors.
