Chemical Engineering Secondary Education STEM Workshops



This one day workshop will give secondary educators insight into how chemical engineering problems are approached and solved by applying math and science principles. Two identical workshops will be offered on July 23 and July 26. Please register for one of the workshops using the links below.

Benefits of Attending:

Educators attending the workshop will use math, chemistry, and physics to solve problems, perform experiments, make measurements, and analyze data. These activities will be done in a classroom environment and may be appropriate to incorporate into courses you teach.

Intended Audience:

New and experienced math, physics, and chemistry teachers for high school level courses.

Workshop Facilitators:

The faculty from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will facilitate the workshop.

Date and Time:

The workshop will be on July 23, 2024 and July 26, 2024
Workshop: 9:00 am - 4:45 pm
Dinner: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm (optional)

Location:

Othmer Hall in Lincoln (820 N16th St.) on City Campus

Stipends:

Due to generous donations from UNL Engineering Alumni and particularly the UNL Chemical Engineering Advisory Board, stipends will be available to workshop attendees that are high school STEM teachers in the state of Nebraska. The stipend amounts are:

  • High schools within 100 miles of Lincoln: $100
  • High schools between 100 miles and 200 miles from Lincoln: $200
  • High schools more than 200 miles from Lincoln: $300
