The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department is grateful for the financial support of alumni, corporations, foundations and friends to help enhance our programs, facilities and technology to benefit our students. The following priorities have been determined by the department for funding. Several established funds that help meet current department needs are also available for donor participation.
Endowed and expendable funds assist faculty in recruiting quality Ph.D. candidates nationally and internationally and ensure that students are supported with first-year assistantships at a competitive level with our peer institutions. The department currently funds graduate research assistants and graduate teaching assistants for one year of half-time work. Students typically are funded in subsequent years by externally funded research grants garnered by individual professors.
The merit and quality of a university is best measured by the quality of its faculty, who equip students with the necessary skills to succeed in an ever-changing world. Endowed professorships carry prestige within academia and are an excellent tool for attracting and retaining scholars. Endowed professorships augment the salaries of the college's most distinguished faculty and help fund much of a professor's support staff, research materials, academic travel and special equipment.
The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department maintains a high technical standard in the computer lab and software packages used by students. Endowed and expendable funds allow for a planned constant renewal of equipment and enhancement of current software to prepare students for industry standards.
Priority Funding Needs:
Create your own fund
Establishing your own fund is the ultimate way to make a difference in the department. Your gift enables the department to stay on top of the constantly changing field of chemical and biomolecular engineering and provide the best possible education for future engineers and community leaders. Your support enables the department to enhance students' experiences through relevant and challenging educational programs, leading edge research and the transfer of knowledge, which helps prepare competent and intelligent graduates who are ready for the fast-paced challenges of a career in the field of chemical and biomolecular engineering.Student Support
