Unit Operations Laboratory (Othmer 15A)
Emerson Process Management PlantWeb Process Automation Laboratory
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Nebraska is dedicated to teaching students the engineering knowledge required to have successful careers. Students will learn to apply engineering principles through hands-on training and experience in the Unit Operations Laboratory. Students complete 7 projects during their junior year and 3 projects during their senior year. Each project concludes with a formal verbal and written report. The department is committed to providing students with a challenging and rewarding experience working with pilot scale equipment commonly found in the chemical, biochemical, petroleum, and pharmaceutical industries.
Laboratory equipment is automated, monitored, and controlled using state of the art Emerson Process Management industrial equipment and instrumentation including:
- Fisher® control valves.
- DeltaV™ platform Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Rosemount® pressure and level transmitters including ultrasonic and guided wave radar.
- Rosemount® flow transmitters including differential pressure, vortex, and magnetic.
- MicroMotion® Coriolis flow and density transmitters.
