Three College of Engineering faculty are among the 14 from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln who have been appointed as National Strategic Research Initiative (NSRI) fellows.
The group is among 30 NU system researchers who were selected for this appointment, bringing the NSRI Nebraska network to 161 fellows.
The Nebraska Engineering faculty selected as 2024 NSRI fellows are:
- Nathan Huynh, the director of the Nebraska Transportation Center, professor of civil and environmental engineering, and Keith W. Klassmeyer Chair of Engineering and Technology.
- Massimiliano Pierobon, associate professor in the School of Computing.
- Cody Stolle, assistant director of the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility and research assistant professor in mechanical and materials engineering.
Bringing forward their expertise from a range of disciplines — chemistry, biology, engineering, computer science, pharmacology, psychology and more — NSRI Fellows aim to build multidisciplinary teams that develop solutions for complex problems across the spectrum of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNe) threats.
"I am thrilled to be an NSRI fellow and join an elite collection of specialized and talented experts contributing to the protection of the nation’s warfighters and infrastructure,” said Stolle, who research is focused on vehicles, structures, computer simulation analysis and the design of features for structural rigidity and absorption.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute my body of knowledge and the capabilities of the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility to NSRI’s focus areas of strategic deterrence, threat-based training, and threat detection and countermeasure development."
