Construction program golden anniversary celebration: Call for Luminaries

In the spring of 2025, the Durham School is gearing up to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of its Construction Program, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of construction education for over 55 years. The Golden Anniversary celebration is slated to take place in April 2025 at the school's new home on the City campus in Lincoln: the state-of-the-art Kiewit Hall.

AJ Lincoln (left), a construction management student, and partner Garrett Woockman won the National Bass Anglers Association Championship and a $38,000 bass boat.
May 11, 2022 - AJ Lincoln, a senior construction management major, an Omaha resident Garrett Woockman teamed up to win the National Bass Anglers Association Championship in April, winning $42,000 in cash and prizes, including a new bass boat.  Full Story

The team working on this DOE project includes: Sulaiman Mohaidat, Ph.D. student in the Durham School, Fadi Alsaleem, assistant professor in The Durham School, Jinying Zhu, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, Bibo Zhong, Ph.D. student in civil and environmental engineering, and Clayton Malone, Ph.D. student in civil and environmental engineering.
April 11, 2022 - Nebraska Engineering researchers Jinying Zhu and Fadi Alsaleem have received a three-year, $800,000 award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop a dual-sensing, health-monitoring system for a spent nuclear fuel canister.  Full Story

Josephine Lau, associate professor of architectural engineering, is leading a study of the efficacy of air cleaners in K-12 classrooms and how they impact students' health and learning.
February 17, 2022 - Josephine Lau is aiming to build on results gleaned from a previous federal study to help K-12 schools across Nebraska create better learning environments for students by studying the efficacy and impact of air-cleaning devices.  Full Story

Ahmad Almaghrebi, a doctoral student in architectural engineering, is incorporating data science into his career plans, including work this past summer as a data scientist intern for Valmont Industries.
