Construction program golden anniversary celebration: Call for Luminaries

In the spring of 2025, the Durham School is gearing up to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of its Construction Program, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of construction education for over 55 years. The Golden Anniversary celebration is slated to take place in April 2025 at the school's new home on the City campus in Lincoln: the state-of-the-art Kiewit Hall.

The Nebraska student chapter was chosen the 2019 Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Student Chapter of the Year.

U.S. Air Force personnel carry a dummy on a stretcher during a 2018 simulated mission in which Durham School faculty Kelli Herstein and Terry Stentz studied the performance of personnel and equipment in missions to retrieve people exposed to infectious diseases.
March 31, 2020 - Engineering faculty Terry Stentz and Kelli Herstein studied the effects on long missions on Air Force personnel to retrieve patients exposed to highly infectious diseases and identified areas of improvement for training, equipment and crew performance.  Full Story

At the 2019 Excellence in Research Celebration, held Nov. 5 at the Van Brunt Visitors Center, the College of Engineering honored 39 faculty for their impactful research in Nebraska and across the world.
November 13, 2019 - The College of Engineering recognized 39 faculty from the college's seven academic units at the annual Excellence in Research event Nov. 5 at the Van Brunt Center. Each of the honorees were nominated by their unit chairs for impactful research.  Full Story

David Miles, a 1985 Nebraska construction management graduate, is executive vice president of the infrastructure group at Kiewit Companies and is a member of the board of directors for Kiewit.

Students, faculty and staff painted the old Civil Engineering offices (and each other) during #LINKBASH, a farewell party for The Link on Sept. 19.
September 20, 2019 - More than 200 students, faculty and staff took part in #LINKBASH on Sept. 19, a party for the College of Engineering to bid farewell to The Link and to move a time capsule that is scheduled to be opened in 2037.  Full Story
